Early Care & Education

Children who are healthy perform better at school and in all aspects of life. Children who come to school feeling well are better able to learn, play and interact with their classmates and teachers.

What is VOICES doing?

  • VOICES documents infant mortality, low weight births, child health index, and births to unmarried teens for children in each of Alabama counties in our annual Alabama Kids Count Data Book.
  • VOICES led efforts for initial funding of AllKids, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.
  • VOICES tracks federal legislation that provides funding for All Kids/SCHIP.
  • VOICES supports legislative policies which promote good mental, physical and emotional health for children.
